BinAC2

The bwForCluster BinAC 2 supports researchers from the broader fields of Bioinformatics, Astrophysics, Geosciences, Pharmacy, and Medical Informatics.

Status: Upcoming maintenance: 10 September 2026, 10:00-18:00

The mainboard of the Lustre server that caused the latest outage will be replaced.

During this period:

• Already running jobs will continue, but file system access will be blocked as long as the server is down.
• No new jobs will start during the maintenance period.
• Jobs running when maintenance begins will get a wall time bonus to prevent data loss due to premature termination of job scripts.
• Access to WORK and PROJECT from the login nodes will also hang.
• We hope that all clients reconnect as soon as the server is brought back so that I/O will continue smoothly.
• You might suffer data loss if your job uses timeouts for I/O operations and does not wait until the file system comes back.

Status: Upcoming maintenance: 17 September 2026, 08:00 - 18 September 2026, 17:00

The University of Tübingen will conduct a campus-wide emergency power test. To prevent any risk of damage, the entire BinAC 2 cluster will be shut down during this test.

During this period:

• We will use this downtime to update BinAC 2 nodes.
• No jobs that would run into the maintenance window will be started.
• Jobs finishing before the downtime begins can still be executed.
